THE SECRET LIFE OF STATUES
Statues are as still as stone, yet they look so real it seems that they could leap off their pedestals at any moment……. Especially when you’re not looking…
The activities in this work shop will engage students with the Hellenic Museum’s collection of cast ancient Greek statues. Students will learn about statues and their artistic and aesthetic purposes. The power of the statue to communicate as an art form will be explored by encouraging students to use their observation, interpretive, dramatic and imaginative skills, encouraging students to be critical and creative thinkers.
Students will use conceptual and perceptual interpretation skills by expressing ideas independently and through group work. They will experiment and problem solve by interpreting, discussing and evaluating sculptural visual culture.
