From the Mists of Time: Appearance, Progress and Fall of Civilisations
Students discuss what civilisations are, how they are built and the factors driving their progress and fall. Engaging with museum collections, artefacts and case studies, students investigate the defining and contested themes of civilisation such as: agriculture, technology, urbanisation, law, specialisation of labour, slavery, social stratification, expansionism, monuments, symbolic and cultural systems of communication (including writing) and globalisation.
