Event Details
The Hellenic Museum has commissioned Sydney-based painter and illustrator Steven Nuttall, known as 'Ox King', Â to create a dynamic 3-part art installation in the Museum forecourt as part of the ongoing Dialogue Series.
Titled Memento Mori, the trio of artworks heroes three sisters known in Greek mythology as the Moirai, or The Fates: Clotho, the ‘spinner’, spun a person’s thread at birth; Lachesis, the ‘alloter’, measured the thread of life; and Atropos, the ‘unturnable’, cut the thread of life. Facing William Street, the Moirai remind us of the transient nature of life and ask us to consider, are we really living?
In the lead up to the launch of this commission and during its live painting, catch Steven and Hellenic Museum curator Sara Prica in this exclusive Artist Talk. Hear them discuss the commission, its historic inspirations, and have the chance to ask your own questions. This is your chance to speak to with Steven Nuttall before the completion of his public art commission.
Registration is essential. Tickets include Hellenic Museum admission on the day.
Tickets for Hellenic Museum Members are free. To access Member ticket pricing, log into your account or contact us for assistance.
