Event Details

In celebration of Rituals: Gifts for the Gods, join Hellenic Museum presenter Tom Harris for an insightful talk and tour exploring the decline, legacy and suppression of ancient "pagan" beliefs.

The rise of Christianity is possibly one of the most significant developments of Western history, and yet the nature of traditional ancient beliefs, and how they came to be abandoned, remains ambiguous. This is a story of political upheaval, the psychology of belief, and the formative years of the Christian church—enriched by an exhibition which serves as a vivid pathway to exploring the traditions that once defined ancient civilisation.

Rituals: Gifts for the Gods is proudly presented by the Hellenic Museum in partnership with the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, and is now showing until late 2025. Generously supported by the Australian Government International Exhibitions Insurance Program and the Victorian State Government.
