Calling all young historians! Step into the world of ancient Greece and discover how food fuelled heroes, athletes, and even the gods.


In this hands-on workshop, young explorers will uncover the surprising role of food in ancient everyday life – from the tough military training diets of Spartan kids, to the delicious offerings made to win the gods’ favour.


Through an interactive museum tour, games, and imaginative play, participants will:

  • Recreate a lively ancient Greek symposium (feast-style gathering)

  • Discover how food and health were connected in the ancient world

  • Put their learning into action with fun, movement-based challenges inspired by ancient athletics


Details & Inclusions

  • 60-minute session, including a guided tour and hands-on activities.

  • Recommended for children aged 7–13 years.

  • Tickets include Hellenic Museum general entry on the day of the workshop.

  • Each child ticket includes entry for one accompanying adult. Children must be accompanied at all times.

  • Please note, no actual food will be prepared or eaten during the workshop.
