at Paint the Past, a paint-and-sip evening honouring women throughout art and history.Celebrate International Women's Day

Guided by a Hellenic Museum curator and expert art instructors, participants of this special event will journey into the vibrant world of Greek history, and discover how historians uncover the secret worlds of historical women through the medium of art.

While painting a portion of fresco from the ancient Akrotiri settlement on Santorini, attendees will discover the significance of saffron in Minoan culture and explore its symbolic ties to wealth, power and divinity, all while indulging in delectable wine and food.The Saffron Gatherers

Explore your artistic talents while learning about the historical context and cultural significance of the artwork. A brief talk accompanying the painting session will delve deeper into the history of the painting, providing insights into its relevance both in ancient times and in contemporary society. Participants will not only create their own masterpieces but also gain a deeper appreciation for the profound impact of women throughout Greek history.
