Humanities teachers are invited to take part in a day of hands-on, interactive professional learning hosted by the Parliament of Victoria and the Hellenic Museum.
Over the course of the day, participants will tour both institutions, while taking part in engaging scenario-based learning experiences that you can use immediately in your classroom to enhance your students' understanding of the democratic process and active citizenship.
Bring civics, citizenship and history together while you handle 2,000-year-old artefacts and learn about the origins of Western democracy in classical Greece at the Hellenic Museum. Then head to the Parliament of Victoria for a tour and take part in a debate in the Legislative Council chamber. Through practical activities and immersive scenarios, you will explore parliamentary processes in fun and engaging ways that can be adapted for different year levels, expanded into a full unit of work or simply used as a short stand-alone classroom activity.
When you return to the classroom you will have gained knowledge, strategies and activities to bring civics to life for your students.
