Event Details

Join the Hellenic Museum on a journey to unlock the mysteries of the ancient Greek language – for kids!

In this hands-on school holiday workshop, budding historians will learn how the ancient Greeks wrote letters, curses and spells, and try speaking some of this fascinating language. Together we'll explore the Hellenic Museum galleries and decipher messages left on ancient artefacts – just as a historian would! – before writing encoded messages using the Greek alphabet, and designing a labyrinth on real papyrus. Finally, craft your own ancient-style wax tablet to take home, helping continue your journey into ancient Greek.

This workshop is recommended for young historians aged 7–14 years.

Tickets include all materials, and Museum general entry after the workshop.
