Cartoon of a Greek trireme boat on an ocean full of sea life and octopus tentacles. In the boat, Captain Jason wears ancient Greek armour and a golden sheep hangs off the flag, holding a golden trophy. The flag has a large red letter A for Argonauts.

Presented by the Hellenic Museum Argonauts Club, the Golden Fleece Competition is an annual contest where Victorian kids create original works inspired by an ancient Greek theme. (In 2025, it was Mythical Monsters!)

Every entry overflowed with creativity, but there were a few that particularly blew our judges away. In this pop-up display, visitors can marvel at the six First Place & Runner Up masterpieces, and read the artists' own words on their inspirations.

Now on display until 28 May 2026, outside the Makerspace. Included with museum entry.
