Ten Thousand Sorrows

The myth of Pandora and her jar has captivated humanity for thousands of years, offering a profound reflection on curiosity, consequence, and hope.

When Pandora opened her mysterious jar, the world was forever changed. Sorrow, toil, and illness spilled forth to touch every corner of human life. Yet one thing remained inside: Hope, hidden but enduring. In a world that can often feel overwhelmed by challenges and suffering, this story resonates more than ever.

Ten Thousand Sorrows invites visitors to engage directly with Pandora's tale by symbolically returning a sorrow to the jar, and releasing hope in its place. This act serves as a reminder that, although we may all add to the burdens of the world at times, we hold just as much power to create and contribute positively.

Open daily with general admission.

But the woman unstopped the jar

and let it all out, and brought grim cares upon mankind.

Only Hope remained there inside in her secure dwelling,

under the lip of the jar, and did not fly out,

because the woman put the lid back in time [...].

But for the rest, countless troubles roam among men:

full of ills is the earth, and full the sea.
