Hellenic Museum volunteers are an integral part of our Museum and play a vital role in the delivery of our cultural and educational programs. Our volunteers are committed to enhancing each visitor’s experience through knowledge, enthusiasm and community participation.

Who can volunteer?

Anyone over the age of 18 can volunteer; as long as you have a strong commitment and interest in the arts, classical studies, archaeology or community relations.

Successful applicants will undergo training and induction with the Hellenic Museum staff.

What our volunteers do?

Hellenic Museum volunteers operate primarily in front of house roles such as reception and gift shop. They assist visitors in understanding and interacting with the exhibitions, activities, and events, and assist museum staff in program delivery. At times, volunteers may assist in areas such as marketing, research and administration, and may also be called upon to undertake guided tours, depending on experience. All Hellenic Museum volunteers work alongside staff. The Museum is open daily 10am to 4pm. Our volunteers work within these hours on a roster basis.

Benefits of volunteering:

  • Hands-on experience in the arts

  • Insight into the workings of a boutique cultural centre

  • Practical experience for a future career

  • Community engagement and involvement within the Hellenic Museum

  • Meet new and interesting people

  • Join Museum events, activities and training

  • Social responsibility

As a community organisation, we’re committed to providing volunteer opportunities of a high standard.
