Event Details

Part meditation tool, part musical instrument: meet the komboloi. Originally used for counting prayers, today these iconic Greek worry beads are also objects of mindfulness, rhythm and play.

In this hands-on school holiday workshop, young adventurers will travel from ancient traditions to modern Greek culture, discovering how komboloi have been used in Greece and beyond. After exploring their fascinating history, participants will craft their own komboloi using beads, thread and tassels, before learning how to bring them to life with beginner-friendly passes and swings – as well as how they can be used as a tool for calm, focus and mindfulness.

Each child will leave with their own handmade komboloi to keep, a deeper appreciation for this enduring Greek custom, and the skills to continue practising at home.
