Event Details

Our Seasonal Scents candle workshop is back by popular demand! On Saturday 2 April, the Hellenic Museum and THEMATIKOS present Seasonal Scents: Easter Edition.

From the (Easter candle) to the midnight service, candles remain the most important part of Greek Easter. Join us for a morning of holiday history and craft at the Hellenic Museum, as we explore the history of candles and candle-making before pouring your very own soy candle to take home.lambada

The Hellenic Museum will take you through the fascinating history, uses and traditions of candles in Greek Easter celebrations and explore its differences and similarities to other Christian religions.

Then THEMATIKOS will then teach you how to make a soy candle from scratch! You’ll formulate a signature scent from a range of fragrances which will form the basis of your very own hand-poured candle. You’ll have the opportunity to name your creation before taking it home.

The THEMATIKOS brand was started by a mother and son in Melbourne. Inspired by the power scent has to trigger nostalgia, they develop blends that draw upon their Greek heritage and life in Melbourne while also blurring the lines between classical antiquity and contemporary minimalism.
